COD MW4 Shader Preloading Pop-up
Exact tray-message behavior is documented for the August Beta. Launch ASD is separately described in the September PC briefing; this does not diagnose every notification.
A Windows tray notification naming Modern Warfare 4 and saying “Shader Pre-Loading Will Start” is documented by Activision as expected shader preparation after a Beta install or update. It is not the same as the MW4 live-event “pop-up.” The launch PC briefing separately describes Advanced Shader Delivery on supported PC platforms.
Match the actual message
The August 19 official article identifies the Windows system-tray text “Shader Pre-Loading Will Start” after installing or updating the MW4 Beta. It explains that the game prepares shaders before the next launch and that some background system-resource use is expected.
If your message has different wording, asks for an unrelated login or reports security noncompliance, this explanation does not identify it. The TPM and Secure Boot checks apply to the documented security results instead.

What the Beta process was designed to do
Activision says the Beta’s offline preloading can be disabled in settings or interrupted by right-clicking its process; compilation then resumes in-game. The article does not name a universal launch-version menu path, so this is Beta-scoped behavior.
During the Beta, Battle.net preloading began after the first install. Steam still needed a first-boot compilation, with offline preloading helping after subsequent updates. Do not interpret that first compilation as proof that the feature failed.
What changed in the launch briefing
The September PC briefing describes Advanced Shader Delivery as delivering precompiled shaders ahead of time on supported PC platforms. It recommends the Xbox PC app for that feature even when playing through another supported PC store; it also says installing the app is only necessary if you want ASD.
That is an optional delivery feature, separate from the game’s purchase entitlement. A completed shader process does not open a locked mode or replace a required game update.
If the notification persists abnormally
Compare the exact text and whether an install or update has just occurred before applying Beta-specific controls. Neither official article gives a universal repair for a permanently stuck launch-version notification.
Use the official PC briefing for supported drivers and Activision Support for a repeatable persistent symptom. Keep the launcher, driver version and actual notification text available; do not repeatedly delete game files or disable security to suppress it.
