COD MW4 TPM 2.0 & Secure Boot
Official MW4 online-mode security guidance. Firmware, encryption and boot-mode changes can affect the ability to start Windows.
MW4 requires TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot for PC online modes. Check TPM with tpm.msc and check BIOS Mode / Secure Boot State with msinfo32 before editing firmware. If the game still rejects the machine, Activision’s Secure Attestation Wizard identifies the failing configuration; BIOS steps depend on the actual motherboard.
Read the Windows status first
Check TPM
Press Windows + R, enter tpm.msc and inspect the status and specification version. The expected enabled state is “The TPM is ready for use” with specification version 2.0. “Compatible TPM cannot be found” can mean disabled or unsupported hardware.
Check Secure Boot
Run msinfo32. BIOS Mode should be UEFI and Secure Boot State should be On. Off and Unsupported are different results; record the actual result before changing anything.
Run the publisher’s attestation check if needed
Obtain the Secure Attestation Wizard from the linked Activision support article and follow its instructions. A compliant result confirms the checks it performs; a noncompliant result identifies the configuration that needs attention.

Prerequisites before a firmware change
Activision specifies UEFI boot mode and GPT partition style for Secure Boot. Legacy / MBR installations may require a separate conversion; simply switching the boot mode can prevent Windows from starting. Follow the official support and PC-manufacturer instructions for your exact setup.
The support article requires Windows 10 22H2 or later for Call of Duty and discusses Windows 11. TPM may be called Intel PTT, AMD CPU fTPM, Security Device Support or refer to a discrete TPM. These labels are not a universal menu path.
If you are unfamiliar with firmware changes, use the motherboard manufacturer or a qualified professional. Preserve recovery access for encrypted drives before following any manufacturer-specific update procedure. This page does not prescribe a blind BIOS flash or disable anti-cheat security.
Use the result to choose the next action
On a small screen, scroll the table sideways to read every column.
| Result | What it identifies | Next action |
|---|---|---|
| TPM 2.0 not enabled | TPM requirement not met | Follow the manufacturer’s TPM instructions, then recheck in Windows |
| Secure Boot / GPT / UEFI failure | A boot-security prerequisite is missing | Follow the specific support branch; do not substitute a generic toggle sequence |
| TCG Event Log Failed | Windows event-log compliance problem | Restart and apply the Windows update described by support |
| BIOS Firmware Update Required | Firmware update recommendation / requirement | Check the exact motherboard’s official firmware guidance |
| Authorization Key Failed | Authorization for the complete scan is missing | Use support’s documented UAC / enrollaik.exe explanation |
When to stop changing settings
If Windows status and the attestation result disagree, preserve both results and use Activision Support plus your hardware vendor. Do not clear TPM, convert disks or repeatedly toggle CSM solely because an unrelated player reported success.
A successful Windows check is a useful configuration result, not this site’s game test. If the machine passes security but performs poorly, move to the separate hardware and benchmark checks.
