COD MW4 M4 Unlock & Weapon Setup
Official launch M4 and FOB data, checked October 23. Listed handling descriptions are publisher statements, not this site’s damage tests.
The launch MW4 weapon guide unlocks the base M4 in Multiplayer at Player Level 14, with a weapon maximum of 72 levels. Its M4 Hurricane Apex conversion is earned through full weapon progression and blocks Barrel and Magazine attachments. Beta loadouts and Beta rank requirements are not used as a launch “best build.”

A blueprint is not the same unlock
Inner Circuit is a named M4 blueprint with platform-specific appearance. That entitlement is different from the ordinary Player Level 14 base unlock. The publisher says its platform visual treatments share attachment configuration and performance.
In DMZ, an extracted M4 is a usable individual weapon, but does not by itself permanently unlock rebuying the weapon type. Find and extract the M4 Weapon Manual to purchase it repeatedly in the FOB Gunsmith. That station unlocks at DMZ level 10.
Choose the role before the setup
The publisher describes the normal M4 as a fully automatic adaptable service rifle. Hurricane is a higher-rate, high-capacity 5.7×28 mm conversion with an SMG-like role. It changes attachment compatibility by blocking Barrel and Magazine, so it cannot be combined blindly with an ordinary barrel-and-magazine setup.
For a conventional M4, choose compatible unlocked attachments for your preferred engagement range. Gunny supplies close-, mid- and long-range presets from your unlocked pool. Use those as starting configurations, then compare handling in the Firing Range; the source does not establish one winning five-attachment build for every launch mode.
DMZ cost and loss context
The FOB guide gives around 5,000 DMZ Cash as an example base M4 purchase price, with additional costs for slots and attachments. The figure is an example, not a guaranteed final cost for every build.
A blueprint’s initial free DMZ instance can be lost in a deployment. The Gunsmith blueprint section explains rebuying versus protected ownership; extraction outcomes explain what is at risk.
