COD MW4 DMZ Bounties & Notoriety
Official launch-era FOB Bounty section, full original reread October 23. No invented bounty-price formula or guaranteed payout.
In MW4 DMZ, player kills create a Bounty, and four Operator kills across deployments make the Operator Wanted under the official guide. Hunters can buy intel at a Bounty Station, but claiming the cash requires killing the target and extracting with their Dog Tag. A kill by itself is not the completed bounty claim.
What changes when you become Wanted
The Operator’s own Dog Tag records Bounty and player-kill information. The guide describes increasing notoriety across deployments and says nearby Operators are alerted when a Wanted Operator approaches.
Purchased intel shows a target’s general area, not an always-exact position. The circle shrinks and updates more quickly at higher Wanted levels. At the highest level, the guide says the general vicinity is likely visible more broadly; that wording is not a universal permanent wallhack claim.

Hunt and claim the bounty
Find a Bounty Station in Hajin
Use the Tac-Map and inspect the current deployment’s Wanted list. The official guide distinguishes the free list from paid target intel.
Choose whether to buy target intel
Spend the required DMZ Cash for the selected Wanted target. Higher notoriety increases intel cost, but the source does not publish one universal numeric price table.
Defeat the target and collect the Dog Tag
The tag is part of the claim condition. Eliminating the Operator without bringing the tag out does not complete the described cash payout.
Extract with the tag
Finish a successful exfil. The guide says the bounty cash is then added to your Bank; use the result report to inspect the run outcome.
Documented ways to lose a Bounty
The official guide describes paying it off with DMZ Cash at a Bounty Station, dying and failing to exfil, or losing the Dog Tag to another player who extracts with it. These are different outcomes; death is not a harmless free reset because carried gear and the Operator can also be lost.
Use the extraction and MIA rules before deliberately choosing a loss. No invisible timer or guaranteed “one peaceful match” reset is supplied.
Leaderboards are a separate view
The FOB has Top 50 Most Wanted and Top 50 Hunter views, with global or friends-list scope. The guide describes the Most Wanted list as weekly updated.
A standing or a danger circle is not proof that a bounty has been collected. The useful endpoint is the tag extraction and recorded cash outcome.
