Modern Warfare 4 is announced for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC through Xbox on PC, Battle.net and Steam. Activision explicitly excludes PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. A similarly named older Modern Warfare product is not a last-generation edition of this game.

Why a PS4 or Xbox One search is different
The publisher’s editions page explicitly says MW4 will not be available on Xbox One or PS4. Do not interpret a retailer search for Call of Duty 4, Modern Warfare Remastered or an earlier reboot as a compatible version of the 2026 game.
Xbox Play Anywhere is a named entitlement for the qualifying Xbox digital purchase across Xbox console and PC. It does not turn a Steam, PlayStation or physical purchase into ownership on every other platform.
Account and hardware checks
Online players sign in to an Activision account. That account supports crossplay and progression across linked supported platforms, but the crossplay guide separates that from game ownership.
PC owners should compare their machine with the release requirements and check the security prerequisites. Console online-multiplayer subscriptions may be required separately; read the platform listing for your region.
