COD MW4 DMZ Missions & Operations
Official launch-era FOB, Hajin and DMZ descriptions. This is an operations-system guide, not an unsupported full walkthrough of every Story Mission.
MW4 DMZ separates Story Missions, Dynamic Operations and Free Roam at Deploy, while DMZ Orders are ongoing directives tracked through the FOB and HUD. Choose a Story Mission for its briefing and narrative objective, a Dynamic Operation for its deployment activity, or Free Roam for independent work. Confirm completion in the HUD and After Action Report rather than equating a kill or exfil alone with every mission being finished.
Choose the correct task system
On a small screen, scroll the table sideways to read every column.
| System | Where / when | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Story Missions | Deploy → Story Missions | Mission selection or replay, briefing, objectives and rewards |
| Dynamic Operations | Deploy selection / deployment objectives | Multi-stage activity; the official guide describes increasing-rarity Supply Drops for completed Operations |
| Free Roam | Deploy → Free Roam | Enter without a selected mission to explore or pursue other work |
| DMZ Orders | FOB Orders station; right side of HUD / Tac-Map | Paged onboarding, narrative and mastery directives |
| Side Ops / Lieutenant Hunt | In-zone map activities | Local tasks; a Lieutenant Hunt tower marks the nearest Lieutenant after its upload interaction |

Before entering the zone
At DMZ Orders, read the current page’s objective and reward. At Story Missions, select the mission and review its briefing before Ready Up. The publisher specifically suggests comparing mission objectives with squadmates’ Orders for work that can overlap.
Some infil methods require cash or progression. For a first run, use the basic deployment route; the existence of a menu option does not mean every paid vehicle infil is already available.
Track the actual completion state
The HUD puts Story Missions, Dynamic Operations and Side Ops on the left, with DMZ Orders on the right. The Tac-Map lets you inspect Orders and their progress, and an Order that requires a location can create an objective you can ping.
An Operation’s own objective is the condition to follow. Looting a mission item or killing an enemy is only the relevant intermediate action unless the objective states that it completes the task. The source gives no single completion action that works for all operations.
Check the report and reward
The After Action Report lists mission and Side Ops totals, XP, player and Dog Tag progression, and a Summary of completed Orders and rewards. Compare the task’s HUD state with those results before assuming an entitlement failed.
If the objective requires carrying something out, finish the extraction process. A Lieutenant Dog Tag Case has a specific extraction-linked Boss Board consequence; it is not an ordinary item to discard before leaving.
