COD MW4 DMZ Extraction & Lost Gear

Launch-era official rules plus an inspected original DMZ run. No guaranteed helicopter countdown, universal disconnect refund or unseen extraction variant is asserted.

A MW4 DMZ extraction is complete when you leave the zone and receive a successful extraction result. Reaching a marker, finishing a mission or boarding an aircraft before it departs is not the same endpoint. The inspected original gameplay reaches an Extraction Successful screen after the aircraft exit; the official guide explains how that outcome affects loot and your Operator.

Work toward a confirmed exit

  1. Choose an exit while you still have time

Use Hajin’s Tac-Map and your current objective HUD to locate an available extraction. Account for radiation and remaining travel time before adding another Side Op or loot stop. The radiation hazard can cut off an otherwise useful route.

  2. Reach the marked extraction and follow its prompt

Follow the extraction objective rather than assuming any helicopter is an exit. Secure the approach and watch nearby AI and rival Operators. The exact available prompt and arrival conditions depend on the active extraction; this source set does not establish one universal call-in timer.

  3. Get aboard and remain with the extraction

Board the available extraction vehicle when its prompt permits it. The inspected run shows the squad inside the helicopter at 26:05; being near the aircraft on the ground is an earlier state.

  4. Check the result, then inspect your return

Wait for the result. The same run displays Extraction Successful at 26:23. Review the After Action Report and your FOB Operator, Bank and Stash rather than closing the session as soon as you board.

What survives each documented outcome

On a small screen, scroll the table sideways to read every column.

Progression, cargo and Operator availability are separate

An After Action Report alone does not prove success

The official Tac-Map guide describes the After Action Report after a deployment, including Report, Rating, Level and Summary views. It can appear after a failed run too. A score or earned XP therefore does not, by itself, establish that your carried cargo was extracted.

For a mission requiring an extracted item, check that item’s actual return and the mission condition. For a Bounty, a target kill alone is not enough: the described claim requires the Dog Tag to leave the zone.

If the run failed

At the FOB, inspect whether the selected Operator is MIA. Recovery can preserve their Traits at a DMZ Cash cost, but it does not bring their gear back. Remove that distinction from your plan and you risk spending cash expecting a recovered loadout that is not included.

Build the next deployment around your current Stash or the Free Loadout. Keep overall DMZ Player Level, the Operator’s Dog Tag and individual weapons separate when checking what actually progressed.
