MW4’s Corporal Joseph Dunn is played by William Lipton, as named in Variety’s casting interview. The official launch operator list gives Dunn a JSOF operator identity and an unlock from Counter Attack. Those performance and gameplay records do not establish that he is the same individual as an older Modern Warfare namesake.
Name and performance credit
The casting interview explicitly pairs William Lipton with Corporal Joseph Dunn. Use that full current-game pairing when distinguishing him from a character named Dunn in another Call of Duty release.
The interview discusses capture-based casting for MW4, but does not provide an official biography proving a connection to every earlier Dunn. Shared names alone cannot establish that relationship.
Campaign and operator context
The official launch list identifies Dunn among Campaign-unlocked Operators, assigned to JSOF and unlocked by completing Counter Attack. The Campaign Early Access reward sequence also includes Dunn.
That is a stated unlock condition, not a full Counter Attack walkthrough or proof of how every Dunn dialogue choice plays out. The character’s performance credit and the selectable Operator are separate pieces of information.
Keep older references in their own product
The 2026 game sits in the reboot story followed by the publisher’s recap of the 2019, 2022 and 2023 games. An older Dunn page, screenshot or mission must be checked against its own game rather than imported as this character’s biography.
