COD MW4 Controls & Accessibility Options
JGOD’s October 20 PC recording with a controller selected, plus MW4-specific official communication controls. Console and Switch button prompts can differ; the recorded PC menu is the scope of the steps below.
On the inspected PC build, Settings separates Controller and Keyboard & Mouse, and Aiming Input Device chooses the aiming device. Controller includes a button-layout editor and a live deadzone test. Interface → Readability contains subtitles, subtitle size, menu text size and colour customization. Use these actual options for comfort and visibility before copying someone else’s sensitivity numbers.
Choose the device and a usable button layout
Choose Aiming Input Device
Open Settings and inspect the Controller or Keyboard & Mouse tab for your device. At 0:22, the recording shows the Controller / Mouse input choice. Its on-screen note says aiming input is locked during gameplay, so make the choice before the match.
Open the controller Button Layout editor
Under Controller, open Button Layout. The 0:37 editor shows presets, custom button actions and a diagram of the current mapping. Default and Tactical place crouch and melee differently; read the resulting diagram rather than assuming a preset name preserves your old buttons.
Test the actions you changed
Check crouch/slide, melee, interact/reload, tactical equipment and ping before a real deployment. Use the actual prompts for the attached controller. Keyboard & Mouse is a separate tab; the recording does not verify every keyboard default or console remapping menu.

Test the resting stick before copying sensitivity
In Controller → Deadzone Inputs, the recording shows Test Stick Deadzone and separate minimum/maximum values for both sticks and triggers. Enable the test, release the sticks and check whether input appears while your hands are still. Increase the affected minimum only enough to remove unwanted drift; a universal zero is not established for every controller.
Horizontal and Vertical Stick Sensitivity are separate. The Aiming tab’s Sensitivity Multiplier expands to show ADS controls; change one value and check the aiming motion before changing more. JGOD’s numbers describe his pad and preferences, not a measured optimum for yours.
Subtitles, text and colour
On a small screen, scroll the table sideways to read every column.
| Task | Visible option / location | How to check the result |
|---|---|---|
| Dialogue text | Interface → Readability: Subtitles; Show More; Subtitle Size | Use a dialogue scene to confirm the text is enabled and large enough |
| Larger menus | Interface → Readability: Menu Text Size | Compare a dense menu from your normal viewing distance |
| Distinguish HUD colours | Readability → Color Customization: HUD palette and individual team/enemy colours | Choose distinguishable colours for your own vision; the creator’s filter is a preference |
| World versus HUD colour filter | Color Filter Target separates the filter’s application; the recording shows Both | Check the map and world separately before keeping the change |
| Keep essential HUD information readable | Interface → Gameplay HUD: HUD Bounds and HUD Widget Shake | Bring information into a comfortable view and check prompts and minimap during play |
Audio and communication controls
The official MW4 support path is Settings → Audio → Voice Chat. Voice Chat Volume changes player voice output; Game Chat Voice can limit communication to Party Only, Friends Only or the listed chat-channel groups. These are communication controls, not a Campaign subtitle switch.
Text Chat is controlled through Account & Network. The official guide warns that platform account settings can override in-game communication. If an option appears correct but voices or messages remain unavailable, inspect the platform setting and blocked-player state as well.
Keep the setup tied to your device
Return to the same short test after each input change. Confirm both the action and its on-screen prompt, then compare reading comfort in a menu and dialogue scene. For colour changes, inspect an objective marker and friendly/enemy distinction instead of judging only the background image.
The recording verifies the named PC controls at the shown date. It does not establish identical Switch 2, PlayStation or Xbox menu labels. PC benchmark settings handles graphics performance separately from input and readability.
